Sloydia is the name for 14 beautiful acres on the banks of the Little South Fork of the Cumberland River in south central Kentucky. In 1999, when Sloyd bought the first parcel of this land, there were no cleared areas, much was impassable thickets and brush, no road access, nor utilities or water, much less buildings. Now there are 10 structures on the land, the largest a 1500 square foot metal building. Half of the structures have electric power, and at this point one has running water. There are 20 vehicle access campsites, two with electric. There are about 50 shady tent campsites with parking for the same number of cars nearby. The tent sites are on both sides of an intermittant creek which crosses the property.

The river has a swimming area about 100 feet long, rare on this shallow river. No spot on the river is over shoulder deep in dry weather. Small boats like rowboats and canoes (there are both here) may cruise up and down the river, and there is fishing. The area is karst limestone, so spelunkers may find caverns in the vicinity. Hikers may wander the adjacent properties on this side of the river, with trails leading up to a rocky mountain top, 1000 feet higher than the river. Nearby, visitors have use of a wood fired hot tub Sloyd built in 1998 on a neighbor's property. There is a 600 square foot fully equipped weight lifting gym on the property.

The land is available for retreats, gatherings, or festivals with facilities for up to 100 people, with overflow available next door with facilities for an additional 200 people. Three guest cabins are avaliable for those who can't camp, with more guest cabins available nearby. There are three acres of shady walnut groves for tent camping in lush bottom land next to the river, surrounding a stage and audience area, perfect for outdoor festivals. The bottom land is private and secluded, and can be designated a clothing optional area, including the swimming hole in the river. Sloyd encourages visitors in the late spring, summer, and early fall months, just contact him to make arrangements.
